Recently Google+ began giving users the ability to display their page counts and follower counts. I immediately had flashbacks to websites of the late 90’s when a “hit counter” was listed at the bottom of every homepage. Was I supposed to feel better visiting a page with a large hit count and worse if the pages I visited were not as popular? I tended to, and still do, judge the content of a webpage as a better factor to determine if I’ll return to the site or not.
