Since Facebook started back in the early 2000’s, the site theme and layout have always involved the color blue. Even today’s Facebook “F” uses a blue-on-blue color scheme.
Did the color blue have some deep meaning for Mark Zuckerberg when he created Facebook? Did the market research indicate a blue site would attract more users? Was there some kind of superstition against another color? Was Blue the color of his favorite fraternity at Harvard? Maybe blue was just easy to code into the original site.
The answer may be a bit simpler…it seems Zuckerberg is Red/Green color blind. The color blue is easier for him to see.
According to The New Yorker, Zuckerberg is red-green colorblind, which means the color he can see best is blue.
“Blue is the richest color for me,” he told the magazine. “I can see all of blue.”
So it wasn’t market research or superstition or any other reason beyond simple Zuckerberg genetics…
